I can't remember if I've shared why I went for KL Paterson as my pen name for this series, and for any future cosy mysteries I write, rather than releasing as Kerrie Paterson. Basically I wanted a slight differentiation between my romance books and my cosy mysteries without a completely new persona.

The Bitterport books still have a romance but it's not the focus of the plot - and while the characters get their happy-ever-after, they don't go through the usual relationship angst to get there. Future cosy mysteries will likely have a slow-burn relationship over the series rather than having everything wrapped up in book 1.

But my characters are still on the "mature" side and I think my voice is still the same - hopefully you'll still find them heartwarming and finish reading with a smile on your face.

I'm almost finished writing my second book in the series - whether the publisher takes it on will depend on how well the first books sell, but we're hopeful! Once I've got the first draft done, I'll put it away for a little while and get to work on my Jacaranda Avenue romance series.

Too many ideas, too little time! 😂
